Jewel with the Utah Symphony Orchestra

July 2007 Deer Valley, Park City Utah

So I'm finally writing about this concert a good year and half after I attended it. Seeing as I don't want to forget any of it (which I will, if I do not 'blog it down) I'm doing it now!
First off I love Jewel and this was an even sweeter concert seeing as it was at an amphitheatre, a smaller, quaint one. AND she was accompanied by a symphony! Which was awesome, even her songs that were more pop-ish had the backing of an orchestra! Something to truly appreciate when you a big fan of the person already. It was different I will tell you that, different in a good way... First off let me tell you Jewel looked stunning, she wore a yellow (my favorite color) summer dress, and she sounded perfect! She told us stories throughout the concert. Which everyone enjoyed because she does have books out, and she is a great, entertaining story teller. She has that personable quality about her, probably from her country roots. She shared that she was born in Springville and she had a niece in the audience that she seemed excited about. She is quite funny actually, one of her stories she shared was how she was 17 and was just before she got big in her music career she wanted to go on a big trek to Mexico. And it was full of all kinds of funny and hilarious tales and mishaps. Let me just tell you Don and I DID NOT fit in to the crowd everyone seemed rich and form Park City and were older and we were the only ones that didn't have a wine glass and picnic basket with cheeses and bread with us! A bunch of rich drunk lushes I tell you! It was at Deer Valley (and snotty ski only resort) by the way so if that tells you anything.... One of the lushes sitting in front of us on the lawn, had one too many glasses of wine because she actually kind of rolled over (she was sitting Indian style...) Yeah it was entertaining crowd. BUT that didn't get me down, it was a very, very enjoyable concert and the Utah Symphony Orchestra played flawless as well! Jewel was on my list to see in concert, and I was lucky enough to see her then, cause right after that she went COUNTRY.... yup she made a true and trough country album (i still love her voice though.)
