Capitol Reef Trip

We've been wanting to go here for a while now, and finally this spring break we made it happen. Well I told Don "hey, I found a cute, cheap place to stay and I'm booking it..." and with that he knew he would figure out the rest: gas, timing, off road drives. It was gorgeous, and Carter did so well and had a blast! He loves staying in a new place. So many different things for him to explore. If only he'd sleep a little better. We stayed at the Chuck Wagon Inn, our room was in the original hotel above their historic General Store (because it had way more charm AND it was cheaper= sold.) When we arrived we checked in at the visitor's center and talked with the ranger to ask about the long day drive we wanted to do to see Cathedral Valley. Seeing as there was a chance for rain he strongly recommended we not go because the drive required a river crossing. Nuff' said for me I gladly listened, Don was really disappointed and for a minute there he was considering just doing it, but he came around. We opted for another long and incredible drive along the Burr Trail. I'm glad we did this because we went through Grand Staircase/ Escalante and it's amazing. Here some of the pictures enjoy!
Oh, btw it rained everywhere that day except for the park, we could of done Cathedral Valley. Better safe than sorry! Just an excuse to come back soon...

Our view for lunch- not bad.

Escalante Staircase
A road less traveled.

This is the 'Swell' on the way down, Don took the long way.
Love this picture: cute father/son moment, and amazing clouds.
