Trans Continental Rail Road Drvie

Last Saturday we were excited to be able to join a few friends from the club to drive part of the old trans-continental rail road. We had been wanting to do this drive for a while and thought we missed our chance because they had scheduled to do it the weekend when we were in Capitol Reef. BUT it rained pretty good that day and it was re scheduled so we made it!
It took us around the northern tip of the Great Salt Lake in the beginning. This is Monument Point.
It was gorgeous! Carter came along but poor guy it just wasn't his day.
Awesome photo op- I'll take what I can get.
Love this boy.
I'm SO glad we're getting out a lot more now and exploring as a family, right after we had Carter/ Don lost his job it seemed there would never be anymore adventures again. Things get better. We can do it. Next up on the trip was the The Golden Spike National Historic Site, that was basically to give our 5 dollar donation and to go pee and then get right back on the road because it was just the beginning of the drive. I was bummed that I couldn't really stay and look around more, that means we'll just have to go back...
Terrace Cemetery, one of the many towns along the old tracks. This was all that was left. Thanks to Vandals (scum of the earth) over the years they have shot up and destroyed ALL of the old towns along here. Even the grave stones have been and still are vandalized. Something that stuck with me here was a small beautiful grave stone of a deceased 3 month old baby girl.
Part of where the tracks went through. We drove a lot on the rail road bed itself which had recently been graded and this happened ...
2 out of 3 of us (not us thank goodness) got flat tires.
We ended our trip early just based on the fact that most of us had no more spare tires.
It was a great day!
